The work consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials for the construction of improvements in Johnston. The project generally includes the installation of approximately 550 SY of PCC Pavement, 1,100 LF of Curb and Gutter, and 2,000 SY of PCC Sidewalk. The kinds of materials, estimated quantities, and work to be done are as shown on the bid proposal. All work must be done in strict compliance with the Plans and Specifications prepared by the Engineer and on file for public examination. Bids are to be made on a form furnished by the City and filed in a sealed envelope addressed to the City Clerk, clearly stating it is a bid for this project. Each bidder must provide bid security equal to 10% of the total bid amount, in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, certified share draft, or bid bond with corporate surety, as defined by Iowa Code Section 26.8. The successful bidder will be required to enter into a contract and provide a corporate surety bond for faithful performance and payment as well as a maintenance guarantee for four years from final acceptance. No conditions should be included except as provided in the specifications. Failure to execute the contract and provide the required bonds or insurance within ten days after acceptance may result in forfeiture of the bid security. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within Iowa, and resident bidders may be allowed preference against nonresident bidders as determined by applicable statutes. A fully completed Bidder Status Form must be submitted with the bid, or the bid may be deemed nonresponsive. A sales tax exemption certificate is available for all materials incorporated into the project. Work is to begin within ten days of written notice to proceed. Payment will be made based on monthly estimates at 97% of the contract value of work completed, with final payment as per Iowa statutes and contract documents. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities or irregularities.
