The Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority is soliciting proposals for fire alarm system upgrades in the north exhibition hall, south exhibition hall, east exhibition hall, parking garage P1, and the Forum Building. The existing system consists of a mix of 4100U and older 2120 fire alarm systems, with 7 transponders on the older 2120 network. The scope of work is to upgrade the 2120 networks to the 4100ES Retrofit kit, as detailed in section 2.2, including internal components and 120VAC circuits. In the Forum Building, a complete head-end upgrade of the Simplex 4100U fire alarm panel to the 4100ES is required, with no re-use of existing FACP components. All existing initiating devices connected via MAPNET must be replaced if not compatible with the new IDNET, while notification appliances will remain and be reconnected. A 100% test must be conducted upon completion to confirm system operation, and the removed 4100U panels remain the property of BJCC. In the exhibition halls, equipment that is disconnected and no longer in service must be removed. If a new device is needed, it must be compatible with the Simplex system; if not, the location should be blanked off. Devices eliminated during the upgrade must be disconnected and removed. All equipment must be compatible with and programmed to the existing Simplex system.
