Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in South Portland, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The project involves the construction of a bituminous sidewalk along Running Hill Road between Maine Mall Road and the Popeyes driveway. Additional elements include ramp construction on the southeast corner of the intersection and median island reconstruction on Maine Mall Road for a new pedestrian crossing. The work includes associated granite curb and paving, earthwork, pedestrian and vehicular traffic control, and all associated work as shown in the contract drawings and documents. Each bidder must submit a single sealed envelope clearly marked with the project name. Bids submitted after the specified time will not be accepted. To be considered responsive, bidders must obtain a set of plans and specifications electronically from the Engineer. Attendance at the mandatory pre-bid conference is required for general contractors. All questions must be submitted in writing and received no less than five working days prior to bid opening. A bid must be accompanied by bid security equal to 5% of the maximum bid price in the form of a certified check or bid bond. No bid may be withdrawn for at least 60 days after receipt unless released by the Owner. A completed bid form, bid security, verification of bonding capacity, and all required attachments identified in the instructions must be submitted with the bid. Within five days of receiving bids, the apparent low responsive bidder must deliver a listing of subcontractors and suppliers for review and acceptance. The successful bidder must, within 10 calendar days after notice of award, furnish the signed agreement, 100% performance bond, 100% payment bond, insurance policy, and begin execution of the contract. The general contractor is responsible for the full amount of the bonds, and combining bonds of subcontractors is not acceptable.
