Renovation of a mixed-use development in North Plainfield, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 6,105-square-foot theater / auditorium.
The scope of work includes alterations and renovations to the existing auditorium and balcony. This work involves new and added seating, all finishes, proscenium wall widening, house lighting replacement, door replacements and added doors, new or automated rigging, wall infills, new walls, HVAC unit replacement, electrical replacement, and hazardous abatement. The Contract Documents define the full project scope. Bids must be for a lump sum price for the entire project, all trades, and must be all inclusive. Bidders must be pre-qualified by the New Jersey Department of Treasury, Division of Property Management and Construction (DPMC) in General Construction (C008) or General Construction / Alterations / Additions (C009) categories. Bidders must also be prequalified for, or include documentation for prequalified subcontractors for, the following classifications: Structural Steel and Ornamental Iron (C029), HVACR (C032), and Electrical (C047). For Asbestos Removal / Treatment (C092), the selected subcontractor shall not be named in the bid but must be classified by DPMC. Bidders and major subcontractors must submit certificates of prequalification and affidavits as to the total amount of uncompleted contracts. Bids must be sealed and submitted using the prepared bid forms. No bids transmitted by facsimile or electronic means will be accepted. Bids proposing modifications to requirements will be rejected as non-responsive. All statutory requirements for equal opportunity, ownership disclosure, public works contractor registration, and business registration must be met, with supporting documentation provided. Bid security of 10% of the bid amount not exceeding $20,000 and a Certificate of Consent of Surety must accompany bids. The successful bidder will be required to furnish additional bonds. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject non-responsive or all bids and to waive minor informalities or non-material exceptions.
