Renovation of a fire / police facility in Florence, Arizona. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.

Develop a state-of-the-art fire department training center, including the acquisition of suitable land. This facility will provide essential training resources to enhance the skills, preparedness, and effectiveness of firefighters in responding to emergencies. By equipping first responders with realistic, hands-on training scenarios and advanced tools, the center will ensure the safety and well-being of both firefighters and the communities they serve. Investing in a dedicated training center will address current limitations in training facilities, fostering improved coordination, safety, and response times. Additionally, the acquisition of land will allow for the design and construction of a facility that meets modern standards and accommodates future growth. This project is vital for strengthening the fire department's ability to protect lives and property while adapting to evolving challenges in emergency services. Currently, the FFMD staff must travel well out of the response area to an existing fire training facility to obtain mandated training. This causes unnecessary wear and tear on fire apparatus, takes crews and equipment out of service from our community, and causes unnecessary overtime in staffing costs to ensure minimum staffing levels are maintained while training is taking place. Investing in land for a fire training facility that is centrally located will allow crews to remain in service within the community for much of their training requirements. This will also provide the opportunity for multiple crews to train together without leaving a portion of the town without firefighters and equipment being well out of a response position. This is a three-phased project in which land acquisition is the first phase, training facility design is the second phase, and construction of the training facility is the third phase. This request is to complete phases one and two. The third phase must be addressed in future years as costs are identified and funding priorities are allowed. The project is included in the City's 2026-2035 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of March 30,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
