The contractor is required to clear and clean the drainage ditch at 12475 Hacks Neck Rd. back to its original parameters. This may involve a "snag & drag" approach for removal of fallen trees and natural dams, and excavation of leaf litter, debris, and sediment to restore the original ditch. The project is primarily a dredging operation and is necessary to relieve water backup affecting State Route 631. Cleaning and snagging will start at State Route 631 and follow the existing ditch contours to a flagged point before the salt marsh, covering approximately 470 feet. The project starts as two ditches totaling about 975 feet, which converge at a culvert under a private road. The contractor must contact “Miss Utility” to mark any underground wires before work begins. All excavated materials and culvert debris must be hauled off-site to North Landfill. Maintenance dredging should be 2.5 to 3 feet wide and level with the roadside ditch base, not exceeding the boundaries of the existing ditches. No side ditches or streams should be blocked. The failed concrete culvert (15" x 20') must be removed and replaced with an 18" x 20' plastic culvert, counter sunk 3" below grade and set half bubble off plum toward the outlet. Filter cloth and class 3 rip rap stone must be used to anchor both ends. The culvert should be backfilled with soil or crusher run stone. The ends will be wrapped in filter cloth and bedded in rip rap stone extending ~18" from each end. All excess materials must be removed from site upon completion. Bidders must acknowledge and agree to be bound by the conditions of the request and the General Terms & Conditions and Instructions to Bidders. Labor, materials, and equipment needed to complete the work must be included. Quotes must remain valid for 90 days.
