Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Superior, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.
The work includes construction of a new chemical feed building (STR 50) at the wastewater treatment facility, which will be a 10-ft by 10-ft wood frame, metal exterior structure on a concrete slab with frost footings and a concrete stoop. The building will have drywall interior, metal siding exterior, a metal roof, and house a chemical feed pump skid, emergency eyewash and shower, automatic composite sampler, heating unit, and associated electrical equipment. A gravel pull-off for loading the chemical storage tank will be tied to the re-graveled access road. A new effluent pumping station (STR 60) will be constructed nearby, consisting of a 16-ft deep FRP combined valve vault and wet well containing two submersible pumps, ductile iron valving and piping, a pH sensor interlocked with the chemical feed skid, and associated electrical equipment. Approximately 5,000 linear feet of 6" HDPE forcemain will be installed from the pumping station to the new outfall at the Nemadji River, with passive air release stacks along the forcemain and directional drilling as the primary installation method. Forcemain segments under rail lines and State Highway 35 will be installed via jack and bore, with a 16-inch steel casing pipe beneath the rail lines. Additional work includes electrical upgrades to the main lift station building and emergency generator (STR 10), process piping and structural upgrades to the influent manhole (STR 11), main lift station wet well (STR 12), main lift station valve vault (STR 13), influent flow metering chamber (STR 14), and existing outfall flow metering chamber (STR 14). Bidders must submit a certified check or bid bond equal to at least 5% of the bid. No bid may be withdrawn within 60 days after opening. Minimum wages must comply with Federal Davis Bacon Wage Rates. Contractors must comply with the "Use of American Iron and Steel" provision. Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, including MBEs, WBEs, and SBRAs, are encouraged to submit bids and these requirements also apply to subcontracts.
