Sealed bids will be received for constructing SR-40/SR-75 sidewalk improvements for the City of Henagar. The principal items of work are approximately 1351 square yards of concrete sidewalk, 4 inches thick; 675 square yards of concrete driveway, 6 inches thick (includes wire mesh); and other miscellaneous items for sidewalk construction including traffic control and erosion control items. The entire project shall be completed in 90 working days. Bids must be submitted on complete original proposals made available by the owner. Bid documents, including plans and proposals, are available upon payment of a one-time administrative fee for digital access or a per-set fee for physical copies. A cashier’s check (drawn on an Alabama bank) or bid bond for 5% of the amount bid (maximum $10,000) and made payable to the City of Henagar must accompany each bid as evidence of good faith. Contractors are not required to be licensed to submit a bid, but proper proof of all applicable licensures must be provided prior to award of contract. Proof of insurance coverage as set forth in the project specifications will be required of the contractor and all subcontractors prior to beginning work. The contractor will be required to perform work amounting to at least 30% of the total contract cost with its own organization. Contractor prequalification is not required to bid. However, the award will not be made to any bidder disqualified by the Alabama Department of Transportation at the time of award, nor to any affiliate or associated person so disqualified. The project is federally funded and must conform to all applicable regulations. MBE/DBE participation is encouraged but not required. Minimum wage rates have been predetermined by the Secretary of Labor and are included in the specifications.
