Sealed bids in duplicate are requested for the construction of Roadway Connecting Garth Road to Dotson Drive Extension, known as Project No. 71-25-RD05. The project comprises approximately 3,600 linear feet of 3-lane road that includes a bridge, about 25,000 cubic yards of borrow excavation, 3,000 linear feet of storm pipe, 22 storm drainage inlets, 3,200 tons of asphalt, 6,500 linear feet of curb and gutter, 3,500 square yards of concrete sidewalk, 36 streetlights, underground electric, erosion control, sod, paving markings and legend, and roadway signage. Bidders must possess a valid general contractor's license with the required classification for the municipal type work (HS - Highways & Streets or MU - Municipal & Utility). Bids must be signed and accompanied by a cashier's check or signed bid bond as specified. The bid must include two signed hard copies and a working thumb/flash drive with pricing in the prescribed Excel format, provided by the City, and reflecting the correct revision. The hard copy and electronic file must match. Failure to comply may result in bid rejection. Only sealed bids will be accepted. In determining the winning bid, the Owner will consider bid price and factors such as responsibility, skill, experience, record of integrity, and prior performance. Bidders must comply with the Alabama Immigration Act and participate in E-Verify, submitting a Memorandum of Understanding and any necessary forms with the bid package. Contractors must also certify compliance with Alabama Act 2016-312 regarding boycotts. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
