As of April 23, 2026, no bids received for this project. The Board of Trustees of the Galena Public Library District is accepting sealed bids for Carpet Installation 2026. The project consists of the removal of current carpet and installation of carpet on the main floor, front entrance steps, and historical room on the library's lower level. The library has a steadfast commitment to environmentally safe practices. All methods of removal and installation must take this into consideration. EXISTING ENVIRONMENT Due to the arrangement of the library, removal and installation of carpet may need to be done in sections. Library staff and volunteers will oversee the moving of library furniture (shelving, tables, chairs, etc) and materials (books, audio-visual equipment, games, etc.). The main floor of the library will need to be divided into three sections: adult seating/fireplace area, entrance steps and middle of circulation area, and patron computers/teen space/director's office. Library staff will move furniture and materials in one section to allow for carpet removal and installation of new carpet. Once complete, furniture and materials will be moved back to move onto the next section. The library's historical room is located on the lower level. The collections in this room are of great local value. Library staff will remove archival materials as needed and place appropriate archival coverage to materials remaining in the room. Library staff will also oversee the removal of furniture from the room. The library will close for one week to allow for the removal of current carpet and installation of new carpet. The closure of the library must be decided shortly after awardance of bid in order to communicate closure to the public. The library will be contracting with Runde Electric during the carpet installation in the adult seating/fireplace area to place five floor outlets. Scheduling will be overseen by the library director.
