Design-bid-build construction services are anticipated to perform erosion control and levee strengthening along the south bank of the Lower American River as part of the American River Common Features erosion reduction program. The work will continue prior erosion reduction efforts and will be performed along approximately 1.5 miles of the left bank of the river, generally extending from Watt Avenue upstream to near Mayhew Drain. The requirement is expected to be fully designed and constructed within an estimated 760 calendar days, with in-water work limited to the July through October work window. The scope of work is anticipated to include excavation, placement, and regrading of materials on the riverbank slope and levee embankment; installation of soil-filled rock slope protection on the waterside levee face and riverbank; and placement of soil and rock to construct river toe protection and planting bench features. Additional work is expected to include construction of launchable rock toe and buried launchable trench features, tie-in of new erosion protection elements to existing rock revetment, installation of instream wood structures on planting benches, import and placement of riprap, and implementation of temporary erosion control measures to stabilize disturbed areas. Vegetation clearing may be performed separately under another Government contract prior to the erosion protection activities. The Government currently estimates the target price range (previously, magnitude of construction) for the potential project may be between $45,000,000.00 and $60,000,000.00.
