Demolition and site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Fort Scott, Kansas. Completed plans call for the demolition of a sidewalk / parking lot.

Sealed bids are being accepted for the demolition, site clearing, and construction of a gravel parking lot at 850 State Street, Fort Scott, Kansas, including adjacent district-owned property. Bids must be submitted by 1:00 PM on April 30, 2026. Bid documents can be obtained by contacting the provided representative. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids and waive informalities. All questions regarding this RFP shall be directed to: Dan Koppa Facilities Director Fort Scott USD 234 424 S. Main Fort Scott, KS 66701 The project includes: Demolition of existing residential structure Removal of all trees, roots, vegetation, and debris Preparation of a parking-lot-ready subgrade Installation of a compacted gravel base parking lot The final product shall be a stable, well-drained, and maintainable gravel parking surface suitable for regular vehicle traffic. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, permits, and supervision necessary. A. Demolition Complete removal of: Residential structure Foundations, basements, slabs Porches, decks, accessory structures Removal of all materials from site Backfill all excavated areas with suitable fill Rough grading to match surrounding elevations B. Tree & Root Removal (REVISED - CRITICAL) Contractor shall completely remove all trees, including: Trunks Stumps Major root systems within project area Removal depth: Minimum 12-24 inches below final grade, or deeper as required No stump grinding allowed as a substitute All organic material must be: Removed from site Not buried on-site C. Debris Removal Remove all: Demolition debrisConcrete, asphalt, rubble Organic materialNo on-site burial permitted Provide landfill/disposal documentation if requested D. Utilities Coordinate and verify disconnection of: Electric Gas Water Work is to be completed during June-July 2026 Surface Preparation Mechanically clean surface (power blow/sweep minimum) Remove debris, vegetation, and loose material Crack Filling Clean and route cracks if necessary Apply hot rubber crack filler to all visible cracks Seal Coating Apply two coats of commercial-grade sealant Application by spray or squeegee method Allow proper cure time between coats Striping Re-stripe all parking stalls and traffic markings Provide ADA-compliant striping per current standards Use durable, high-visibility traffic paint Site Protection Provide barricades and signage Protect adjacent sidewalks, curbs, and structures Maintain safe access where possible Alternate #1: Additional crack repair beyond standard scope Alternate #2: Seal coating of additional adjacent areas (if requested)
