Renovation of a library in Manchester, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 26,135-square-foot library.
The Town of Manchester is requesting proposals from established organizations or entities interested in occupying the historic Mary Cheney Library building located within a public park in Downtown Manchester. The intent is to repurpose the building as a community asset, bringing renewed energy and vitality to the Downtown District. The use or combination of uses proposed should take advantage of the character of the location and space, while preserving the full exterior of the building. Only one proposal from a qualified entity or team, in keeping with the preferred goals, objectives, and uses outlined, will be selected. The site is a 26,135 sq-ft Colonial Revival style building constructed in 1937 and expanded in 1962, situated within the Main Street Historic District and Center Memorial Park, sharing the plot with the Manchester Probate Court. Proposals should address the context, goals, and intended community benefit of the repurposing project.
