The work consists of restoring approximately 5.5 miles of beach and dune along Anna Maria Island in Manatee County between Florida Department of Environmental Protection Range monuments R-12 and R-41. The project includes construction of a dune and beach berm in accordance with the project drawings, followed by planting of dune vegetation after completion of constructed segments. Beach fill material will be dredged from Borrow Areas I, II, and III located approximately one nautical mile offshore in State waters and transported approximately 3.4 nautical miles from the borrow areas to the midpoint of the fill area. Additional project activities include, but are not limited to, beach tilling, vibration control and monitoring, environmental and water quality monitoring, coastal vegetation planting, sea turtle trawl sweeping for hopper dredges, and MEC construction support.
