Sealed bids are invited for the award of a contract for the Bret Harte Middle School Roofing Upgrade to construct the updated roofing system at Bret Harte Middle School, 1047 E Street, Hayward, CA 94541, as specified in the contract documents. The Owner reserves the right to add or deduct items after determining the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, which is based on the base bid only. This contract is subject to prequalification and the District's Project Labor Agreement. Prevailing wage rates as determined by the Director of Industrial Relations must be paid. For projects over $25,000, contractors and subcontractors must be currently registered and qualified under Labor Code section 1725.5, and the public works contractor registration number must be provided for each subcontractor performing more than 0.5% of the bid. The deadline for completion is August 10, 2026. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope, marked accordingly, and delivered to the District Office - Purchasing Department at 24411 Amador Street, Hayward, CA 94544, before 2:00 p.m. on May 7, 2026. No late or faxed bids will be accepted. A mandatory pre-bid site visit is required. All questions from bidders must be submitted in writing by email by April 27, 2026. Bidders are responsible for consulting the District's website for any addenda up to 72 hours before the bid deadline. Bids must be accompanied by a bid security of at least 10% of the base bid. The successful bidder must furnish Payment and Performance Bonds each in the amount of 100% of the contract sum. Only licensed contractors with a Class "B" license, in good standing through contract completion and warranty periods, will be considered.
