The work consists of demolition of existing asphalt and repaving with concrete and heavy-duty asphalt, and the installation of a grate inlet onto the existing storm sewer line. The project also includes pavement marking and possibly undercutting unsuitable soils and replacing them with suitable fill. The scope covers milling, reconstruction, and resurfacing of paved vehicular and parking areas as indicated on the partial site plans provided. Work includes standard-duty and heavy-duty asphalt pavement, associated base preparation, grading adjustments, drainage accommodations, and pavement markings. Specific tasks are removal of existing asphalt and deteriorated base where required, placement of new asphalt pavement sections in designated areas, adjustment and protection of existing utilities, fine grading to maintain positive drainage, pavement striping and markings, and restoration of disturbed areas. All work must comply with the College's Facility Design Manual, NC DOT standards, and local code requirements. Final quantities must be verified in the field by the contractor. The intent is to provide a clear basis for proposals and establish minimum technical and performance requirements. Bidders must be licensed contractors in North Carolina with owner-approved subcontractors as required, and must register with the North Carolina Electronic Vendor Portal. The general contractor shall be the prime contractor, and the bid must include all work required for complete and satisfactory installation as designed. Bid bonds in the amount of 5% of the total bid are required. All bidders must agree to execute a contract that incorporates and adheres to the State of North Carolina's General Terms and Conditions.
