Construct Shallow Well No. 4 including all labor, materials and equipment necessary for the construction of new well including test hole, well construction, well pump, pitless assembly, meter pit, generator, electrical, transmission piping, site work, fill, access road, seeding and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup. The project is located north of the City of Macedonia on 400th Street at the City’s well field site. All work and materials are to be in accordance with the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost on file with the City Clerk. All proposals must be submitted on official bidding blanks furnished by the City. Alterations to the official form may result in rejection. Each proposal must be sealed and plainly identified. Each proposal must be accompanied by bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid, in the form of a certified or cashier's check drawn on a solvent Iowa bank or a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in Iowa. Bid security should be made payable to the City of Macedonia, Iowa and must be unconditional. Bid security will be forfeited as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract and post bond within 10 days after award. Bidders must use the provided bid bond form. A completed Bidder Status Form must be submitted with the bid. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities or technicalities, and defer acceptance of proposals for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid. The successful bidder must furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful performance and prompt payment to all suppliers and subcontractors. Materials and labor preferences are given as required under Iowa statutes. The project is subject to Build America, Buy America Act requirements. Work must commence within ten days of Notice to Proceed, be substantially complete by December 31, 2026, and ready for final payment by June 1, 2027. Payments will be made monthly based on ninety-seven percent (97%) of work completed. Plans and specifications are available for examination at the office of the City Clerk, and copies may be obtained from Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., West Des Moines, Iowa.
