The project is located at the East Building of Hunter College, located at 68th Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City. It includes the complete modernization and renewal of all twelve (12) elevators in the, located in two (2) elevator cores, including all new finishes, machinery and controls, cooling and electrical infrastructure, life safety and security scope, as follows 1. Demolition: Existing elevator cab interiors, doors, wiring, controls and communications systems will be removed; only the elevator frame and platform will remain. In the shaft, all cables, wiring and lighting will be removed, with guide rails remaining. All existing machinery, controllers and lighting will be removed. An existing roof hatch will be removed. Existing elevator lobbies and adjacent spaces are actively occupied, and appropriate protection is required. 2. Elevator Cab Equipment and Controls: Each elevator will have new interior finishes including woven wire (metal) mesh walls, stainless steel handrails and wall and ceiling panels, and rubber floor tiles. New LED lighting, call buttons, intercoms and new door panels. Hunter North, West, and East buildings require new elevator systems to current code. The scope of work will include replacing aging systems to enhance safety, performance, energy efficiency, and code compliance, also including all associated work in the North, West, and East buildings. The successful low bidder, as a condition of being awarded the contract, must execute the PLA included in the contract documents following the form of bid. All subcontractors of every tier will be required to execute a Letter of Assent, agreeing to be bound by the PLA.
