Description

Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Somerton, Arizona. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The project involves the revitalization and modernization of Main Street from near Somerton City Hall to the west corner of the Somerton Avenue intersection. The scope of work includes removal of existing roadway pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalks (including pavers), lighting and landscaping. New installations include approximately 650 linear feet of curb and gutter, catch basins, 91 linear feet of various sizes of storm drain, lights, pavement marking, and new pavement consisting of 3 inches of asphalt concrete over 12 inches of aggregate base course. All sidewalks and ramps must comply with ADA standards. Construction work also entails landscaping, irrigation, and a "welcome arch." There are 10 bid alternatives, A through J, addressing roadside features and amenities. The base work also includes provisions for water service and electrical service to enable current or future work on bid alternatives, along with other miscellaneous work detailed on the plans and specifications. Bidders must comply with all applicable HUD and federal requirements including Davis-Bacon prevailing wage and Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act. Federal certifications and compliance documentation must be included with the bid for it to be responsive and eligible for contract award.
