Inviting written responses from qualified contractors for a gymnasium floor refinishing project located in North Adams, MA. In general, the project includes all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the work in accordance with the Scope of Work Statement outlined in the Request for Response (RFR). Contractor Qualification Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Scope of Work o Lightly sand (screen) the existing 17,160 square-foot gymnasium hardwood floor using 150 grit abrasive screening to remove surface wear and prepare the surface for refinishing. Existing court lines and logos shall remain intact. o Thoroughly clean the floor to remove all sanding dust and debris prior to finishing. o Apply two (2) coats of clear, commercial-grade oil-based polyurethane finish suitable for athletic hardwood floors, in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Allow proper drying and curing time between coats and prior to reopening the floor for use.o Protect adjacent walls, equipment, and building components from dust, finish, or damage. The gymnasium bleachers will remain in their closed position throughout the duration of the project. o Provide adequate ventilation during finish application and curing and comply with all applicable safety, environmental, and VOC regulations. Existing Conditions o The Contractor shall visually inspect the floor prior to commencing work and notify the College of any observed conditions that may affect the work. o Minor surface blemishes consistent with light sanding are anticipated. Floor repairs, board replacement, or correction of latent defects are not included unless specifically authorized in writing. Schedule and Access o Work shall be scheduled and coordinated with the Director of MCLA Facilities.
