This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested, and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation number 1232SA26Q0460 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The USDA Invasive Plant Research Facility (IPRL) Bldg 17 was constructed during 2002-05. The facility contains approximately 9000 ft2 of biocontainment (quarantine) spaces including five 600 ft2 glasshouses (Figure 1) for plant and insect growth. _ The exterior of the glasshouses are comprised of various shaped panels made of double paned, gas filled, impact-resistant glass meeting Miami-Dade hurricane impact resistance standards. _ It is vital for the IPRL quarantine to maintain the integrity of its purpose during repairs. This means insects and plants must be prevented from escaping. Special protocols for maintaining biocontainment integrity must be established and approved by the IPRL Research Leader/Biocontainment Manager. United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Invasive Plant Research Lab (IPRL), has a requirement to replace flawed/damaged impact-resistant glasshouse panels and re-sealing all panels.
