Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Largo, Florida. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The scope of this sidewalk project is to improve safety for Largo Middle School students walking to and from school on 8th Avenue SE from Donegan Road and the Lake Alison neighborhood from 7th Street SE. The project addresses the Public Health & Safety focus area of the Strategic Plan, specifically through investing in quality infrastructure and building a community of safe and healthy neighborhoods.There is presently no sidewalk on 8th Avenue SE east of the CSX right-of-way. The Allora development project, presently under development review, will add a 10-foot-wide mixed-use path in City/County right-of-way on the south side of 8th Avenue SE from the CSX right-of-way to the developer's property limits on Donegan Road. Construction of the project would leave a gap across the CSX right-of-way between the sidewalk serving Largo Middle School and the mixed-use path. Students walking to and from Largo Middle School from Donegan Road and the Lake Alison neighborhood from 7th St SE would therefore be required to cross 8th Avenue SE twice and Central Park Drive once at the CSX tracks. A tub crossing panel was extended south of the 8th Avenue SE crossing at the CSX tracks during an adjacent 2024 project to allow for such future sidewalk/mixed-use path development east of the CSX tracks. Design and construction of a sidewalk crossing of the CSX tracks on the south side of 8th Avenue SE improves safety for Largo Middle School students walking to and from school by eliminating the three-leg crossing of 8th Avenue SE and Central Park Drive and allowing sidewalk passage to and from Largo Middle School with no road crossings. Design and construction schedules are intended to complete the gap across the CSX tracks as close to completion of Allora construction as possible. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 17,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
