Renovation of a municipal facility in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The Ilavut Centre Renovation Phase 2 project involves upgrading the existing fire alarm system at the Ilavut Centre in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. The project includes but not limited to the removal of outdated equipment and installation of a modern, fully integrated fire alarm system designed to meet current codes and standards, including CAN/ULC-S524, CAN/ULC-S537 CAN/ULC-S536, the Canadian Electrical Code and National Building Code with the full satisfaction of the Consultants and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Scope of Work The scope of work includes but not limited to the following. The work has to be completed as per the drawings and specifications with the full satisfaction of the Consultants and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Upgrade existing fire alarm system to meet current codes and standards (CAN/ULC-S524, Canadian Electrical Code and National Building Code). Maintain operation of existing Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and DACT until new system is fully installed, tested, and commissioned. Demolition and removal/relocation of existing fire alarm devices, including manual pull stations, bells, and EOL resistors. Supply and install new Fire Alarm Control Panel in Room E21 and annunciator panel at the main entrance. Install new wiring in EMT conduit (21 mm), utilizing existing conduit where code-compliant. Provide and install new devices including smoke detectors, Heat detectors, CO detectors, duct smoke detectors, Manual Pull Stations, and Audible and Visual signal devices (horn/strobe lights). Extend system coverage to main floor, crawlspace, attic, and generator enclosure. Configure system into multiple alarm and supervisory zones for accurate alarm identification. Integrate fire alarm system with building systems including kitchen suppression, HRV shutdown, sprinkler monitoring, and generator status monitoring. Provide provisions (conduit and junction boxes) for future system expansion. Conduct full testing, verification, and commissioning of the new system. Coordinate with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for inspections and approvals. Provide continuous fire watch during any period when the system is offline.
