Due to the nature of gravity sewer design, lift stations are often located in the lower or lowest elevation of the basins they serve. In a coastal community like Largo, this frequently results in lift stations located near coastal water bodies, or within the coastal floodplain. During storm or other flooding events, lift stations in these areas are often flooded. Typically, flooding can render a lift station inoperable in two ways. Overflowing of the wet well or destruction of the control panel due to flood water inundation. This project aims to reduce the risk of lift station control panel flooding by providing an elevated control board. Engineering Services & Environmental Services worked together to identify 6 Lift Stations in vulnerable areas that have routinely flooded during recent heavy rain and flooding events to elevate the control boards. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 18,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
