Construct two new LAN Rooms-one on the 24th floor and one on the 25th floor TIMELINE: Request for Quote for consultant services for the project has closed and a preferred proponent is chosen. There is an urgent requirement to construct two new LAN Rooms - one on the 24th floor and one on the 25th floor. Approximately 200 employees are directly impacted by the current lack of adequate LAN room capacity and are forced to work from home as a result. This situation places Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) in non-compliance with the Treasury Board of Canada's Return to Office directive. In accordance with ESDC's Return to Office (RTO) plan, these LAN Rooms must be delivered as quickly as possible to enable employees to return to the workplace. The LAN Rooms must be designed and constructed in full compliance with ESDC Interior Design Standards (IDS) and ESDC security standards, which will be provided to the selected bidder. Doors must include card access control with wave-to-open functionality and be equipped with wheelchair-accessible push bars. The LAN Rooms are currently located around the elevator core in suite 2400 and in room 2514. The Consultant will review the existing floor plans and determine the feasibility of relocating these LAN Rooms so that they are vertically stacked for optimal LAN room configuration and efficiency. The project will require the development of architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings for all design deliverables, including, but not limited to, full adherence to the additional requirements outlined in the Requirements Document and applicable design standards provided to the selected bidder. The Consultant will also provide support during general contractor bidding and negotiations and provide full construction contract administration services through to construction completion. Tender and construction timelines are yet to be determined. Further update in early 2027.
