Proposals, including statements of qualifications, are requested from capable General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) firms or teams for the development and construction of Explorer Middle School Phase 2 at Explorer Middle School in the City of Everett. The contract will be awarded through a competitive negotiation process. Preconstruction services are fully funded, with construction contingent upon the passing of a bond. Construction will be substantially completed in Fall 2030. It has undergone minor upgrades to this point. Phase 1 of the entire school replacement was approved by voters as part of the 2020 bond package. The new athletics building was completed in Fall 2025 and House 4 was partially demolished. Phase 2 will complete the school replacement in sub-phases, Phase 2A and 2B, to ensure the school can remain operational during construction. Explorer Middle School Phase 2 will be approximately 120,700 square feet of new buildings, demolition of House 2 and 4, new parking and bus loop, playfields/courts, and associated site infrastructure. Anticipated start is Summer 2027 with completion of Phase 2B in Fall of 2030. The new building will include general classrooms, art classrooms, science classrooms, CTE classrooms, administrative spaces, library, kitchen, cafeteria and support spaces.
