The work includes the improvement of 21 manholes, divided into two categories: channelize and rehabilitate. Channelizing involves shaping or reconstructing the bottom of manholes with concrete to ensure smooth wastewater flow, as specified in Section 03300 Cast-in-Place Structural Concrete. Rehabilitating involves adding a mortar and epoxy composite corrosion barrier system (lining) to manholes, following Section 02731 Manhole Lining. Some manholes are located in streets, others in landscaped or unimproved easements. All work must be performed without disrupting service. Temporary bypassing of flows is required to prevent service disruption when necessary, to be completed according to Section 02145 Sewer Bypassing and Dewatering. The contractor must perform site investigations, provide accurate record keeping, clean up, maintain access, prepare and obtain approval for Traffic Control Plans, and follow City guidelines for public notification. Work must be completed within 90 working days. The contractor must be a licensed contractor with a minimum of five years’ experience in sewer manhole rehabilitation and provide proof of at least five similar projects in the last two years. Bidders must include their license information with the bid and obtain a City business license before starting work. Proposals must include confirmation of required insurance. Prevailing wages must be paid.
