1. The existing asphalt surface shall be pulverized full depth to a minimum of 97 percent passing the 2-inch sieve. 2. Pulverizer shall have a minimum of 700 HP and a minimum 8 foot drum width. 3. Price shall include injection of a minimum 2% water, by mass, during the pulverizing process, increased/decreased as needed to optimize compaction. The pulverizer shall be equipped with a pump to inject water directly into the cutter housing concurrently with the pulverizing operation. The pump shall be controlled with automatics designed to control the correct amount of water based on the travel speed of the machine. 4. Bidder shall supply no less than two water tankers, with drivers, sized adequately to ensure pulverize operation does not stop production to wait on water trucks. 5. Method of measurement: Payment quantities for pulverizing will be measured by the square yard of approved completed work, measured using centerline length and width from outside to outside of existing asphalt pavement. 6. Polk County forces will provide all traffic control and will shape and compact the pulverized material. Project scope includes pulverizing and paving on CTH I, from Clam Falls Trail to CTH O, totaling 5.26 miles. The work consists of paving the existing road with 3 inches by 24 feet of hot mix asphalt. Bidders are instructed to submit sealed bids specifying LRIP CHIS CTH I on the envelope.
