Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Honolulu, Hawaii. Completed plans call for the construction of a 8,269-square-foot, one-story above grade playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a educational facility.
This project is for a covered playcourt at Aliamanu Elementary School. DOE Job No. Q75215-19. Last Date to submit Request for Information (RFI): 5/20/2026 PLANNED DEVELOPMENT From the information provided, the project will consist of the design of a new covered play area of approximately 50' x 70' in size. 3.0 SCOPE OF GEOTECHNICAL WORK The purpose of the geotechnical investigation work was to obtain information on the subsurface conditions from which to base recommendations for foundation design for the proposed play court. The services included: 1. Drilling three (3) test borings to depths of 9.5 to 10.5 feet below the existing grade. 2. Obtaining samples of the underlying soils for visual examination and laboratory testing. 3. Performing two (2) field percolation tests to determine the soil percolation/infiltration rate of the on-site soils. 4. Performing pertinent laboratory tests to determine the engineering properties of the materials. 5. Performing an engineering analysis to determine foundation design parameters. The following information is provided for use by the Architect and/or Engineer: 1. General subsurface conditions, as disclosed by the test borings. 2. Physical characteristics of the soils encountered in the borings. 3. Recommendations for foundation design, including bearing values, embedment depth and estimated settlement, plus soil percolation/infiltration rates. 4. Recommendations for placement of fill and backfill. 5.
