Renovation of a mixed-use development in Sylva, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

The work consists of furnishing and installing LED sports lighting fixture retrofits to the existing sports lighting poles at Smoky Mountain High School football field. Light levels are to be 50 maintained foot-candles across the field to meet North Carolina High School Lighting Regulations and IES-RP6 Sports Lighting standards. The contractor is to supply and install four new 2-light crossarms and 650-watt fixtures on each pole to light track areas. The scope includes removing and disposing of the existing sports lighting fixtures and crossarms, providing and installing new galvanized steel mounting crossarms, fixture mounting hardware, all new wiring to the base of the poles, and new LED sports lighting fixtures and mounting hardware. The contractor must aim and test all lights per manufacturer diagrams, obtain necessary permits, verify existing wiring, and adhere to the National Electric Code, Article 250 for bonding and grounding. A 10-year manufacturer warranty on the LED fixtures and 2 years labor warranty are required. The contractor is responsible for all jobsite safety, repairing any ground damage, including taxes in the proposal, and providing a reference list for eight similar projects completed in North Carolina in the past year. All individuals entering the school must complete a background check. Only properly licensed contractors may bid. Bids must be sealed, accompanied by a 5% bid deposit or bid bond, and include performance and payment bonds for 100% of the contract price. Payment will be made monthly with retainage as per NC statutes. The project must be completed no later than July 17, 2026.
