Construction services are required to replace the existing sanitary sewer system serving the Visitor Center building. The work includes replacement of all exterior sanitary plumbing infrastructure and selected interior plumbing piping as shown in the project drawings. Interior work consists of constructing new sewer piping below both floors of the building to correct existing drainage deficiencies that prevent proper evacuation of solids. Exterior work includes reworking the existing lift station and valve vault with all new interior mechanical and electrical components interfaced with the current system, along with construction of a new septic system. The new septic system includes septic tank(s), cleanouts, a distribution box, absorption trenches, and associated appurtenances. The project addresses long-standing failures in the existing system, including improper pipe sizing, inadequate slope, and inefficient routing that have caused repeated sewer backups, ejection of solids through floor drains, damage to museum and storage areas, temporary facility closures, and public health and safety concerns. Work impacting the existing sanitary system must be performed after Labor Day, and all work must be completed within 120 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
