Renovation of a water / sewer project in Decatur, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The project will remove and replace four (4) 8 diameter sump wells in the floating cover of Digester #2. Questions pertaining to these specifications may be directed to Ean Watson at (217) 462-9474 The Sanitary District of Decatur is requesting that you provide a proposal for the repair of four 8-inch digester cover sump wells (Digester #2). o Access to the sump wells is to be gained through the upper deck of the lid. o Attic Space and space between water line in tank and underside of lid should be verified safe under hot-work permits prior to work beginning. o Note there are "plugs" in the sump wells that could be removed to test atmosphere in the immediate area if contractor chooses to utilize those ports for atmospheric monitoring. o Removal of sump wells shall be in one piece. o Preserve sump well "coupons" for forensic investigation post removal. o Protection of attic space from rainwater will be required. o Prior to "re-floating" the lid, all interior coating on new sump well shall be complete. o Chip out/remove light weight concrete to gain access to sump well. Concrete not to be reinstalled. Replacement Sump Well: Will be manufactured and shop primed and painted with a submersible duty epoxy paint - Submittal to owner required on coating. Replace with 1/4 inch carbon steel plate material, and schedule 40 steel pipe (8" dia). Full gas tight weld when installing is required. Float test will verify weld acceptability. Site Conditions: SDD Maintenance will remove sludge and clean the digester prior to construction. The Contractor is responsible for coordinating work activities with SDD Maintenance to ensure the site is prepared and safe for cutting and hot work.
