The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is requesting bids from qualified contractors to perform repairs to existing guardrail segments at the locations listed in the Invitation to Bid. The contractor must be a current Certified Guardrail Installer and hold a license for such in the state of Alaska. Questions or requests for clarifications shall be directed to the Borough's Purchasing Office. Questions or requests for clarification directed to any other member of the Borough staff, or consultants may be grounds for rejection of the proposal as being irregular. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is soliciting a qualified and certified contractor to perform repairs to existing guardrail segments, at South Trunk Road at the Nelson roundabout (two segments are inside the traffic circle; one is located at the Fireweed Road exit, and the other is located at the Parks Highway exit), and the Seward Meridian Parkway north bound lane. The objectives of this contract are to: o Perform repairs to existing guardrail segments, at South Trunk Road at the Nelson roundabout, and the Seward Meridian Parkway north bound lane. o Obtain material that is of exact replacement, free of defects, and nonconforming components. o When existing application is not obtainable, the replacement should be of industry approved application or retrofitted to meet the current standards. o All guardrails should be in accordance with the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide. DOT&PF Standard Drawings can be referenced for details. o Establish clear, measurable requirements to support inspection, acceptance, and public safety.
