Project Location: NSWC Crane, IN The work consists of replacing the existing HVAC system serving Building 198, a 30,000-square-foot ordnance prototype development facility supporting ammunition, explosives, and toxic laboratory research, development, test, and evaluation operations. The project requires installation of new HVAC systems capable of maintaining strict environmental controls, including humidity levels between 45% and 60% relative humidity, to meet NSWC Code WXR operational requirements. Work includes replacement of air handling units, makeup air units, VAV systems, chilled water systems, direct digital control (DDC) HVAC controls, and all associated appurtenances. Renovation activities will occur primarily within Building 198, with additional internal work in adjacent supporting Buildings 2507 and 2508. Existing chiller pads will be reused, with the pad near Building 2507 extended to accommodate new structural elements. New equipment pads will be constructed between Buildings 198 and 2507 for pad-mounted exhaust fans, and a new transformer pad will be constructed near the existing transformer. All work shall be coordinated to support secure test cells, work bays, independently controlled vent hoods, and continuous facility operations, and shall be completed within the required construction duration.
