Site work for a development in Marquette, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a development.
This project is for the Bill Rollow Memorial GEMS Block, located at the AuTrain and Watson Cutacross in Marquette County, for the Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division. GEMS (Grouse Enhanced Management Sites) projects typically involve habitat management. Deadline for bidders to EMAIL questions 3:00 p.m. EST May 15, 2026 To avoid potential proposal disqualification, questions concerning all other aspects of the bid must be directed to Lisa Crozier-Green, Solicitation Manager, by email at CrozierGreenL@michigan.gov. Bidders may contact Don Brown at (906) 287-0018 with questions concerning the conditions or locations of any opening. SCOPE A. Review Attachment 1 - Maps for the location of Marquette County openings and requirements. B. This project seeks to cultivate and seed up to 37.7 acres of opening, mow 58 acres, and fertilize 27.4 acres. Award recommendation will be made to complete the maximum acreage possible based on the proposal received. C. There are three distinct Blocks of openings prescribed for cultivation, referred to individually by the fowling names: AuTrain SWMA (58 ac), Watson Cutacross (19.5 ac), and Bill Rollo Memorial Grouse Enhanced Management System (GEMS) (45.6 ac). D. Bidders may bid on any combination of Blocks and should examine each Block to make their own estimate of the time and cost to complete all tasks involved. Each Block / Unit will be considered separately, and more than one award may result. E. Due to the size of the openings, overall number of acres, and the presence of numerous 3-to-5- inch diameter rocks present within most of the openings, it is required the Contractor use a disc with discs measuring a minimum of 24 inches in diameter. This requirement is to encourage the proper size and grade of equipment to successfully cultivate the soil. Tiller attachments are acceptable as well, but forestry tillers are encouraged. F. Bidders who do not utilize a cultipacker or similar equipment as part of their soil cultivation practice may be required to make multiple passes or re-disc/plow openings to ensure soil is properly prepared to receive lime, fertilizer and / or seed.
