Construction and repair of the Miller-Rice pile dikes through enhancement and connection of existing enrockments and repair of degraded dike features. Work includes uniformly raising and enhancing the enrockments of Pile Dikes 23.71 and 23.82 to connect the two structures, and repairing and enhancing Pile Dike 24.63 by constructing an offset enhanced enrockment approximately 10 feet downstream of the existing pile alignment to avoid pile removal and debris disturbance. The enhanced enrockment crest will be raised from approximately Elevation -15 feet NAVD88 to Elevation -5 feet NAVD88, with varying crest elevations and slopes along nearshore and offshore segments, including an 8-foot crest width, 1.5H:1V side slopes, and a rock scour apron at the northern end. The offshore portion will slope down and tie into existing enrockment at a 2H:1V slope. Work also includes installation of eight new navigation hazard marker piles to identify submerged enrockments, consisting of 24-inch-diameter steel pipe monopiles with 1/2 -inch wall thickness, fitted with 3-foot by 3-foot navigation hazard signs and set to a top elevation of 20 feet NAVD88. Magnitude of Construction: The estimated cost of the project is between $25,000,000.00 and $100,000,000.00.
