Trinity County Resource Conservation District (the District) is requesting up to 39 acres of mastication in addition of up to 69.4 acres of hand thinning, chipping, hand piling, and pile covering and timber removal of hazard fuels in and around the community of Salyer in Trinity County (total treatment acres: 108.4ac). Wood product removal will be part of this project. This contract will be managed under formal bidding procedures per District policy. Heavy accumulations of both live and dead hazardous fuels on private lands as a result of the Lightning Complex Fire of 2022 has created elevated wildfire threat to infrastructure and natural resources. Elevation in the treatment areas ranges from 500 feet to 3,600 feet, with slopes ranging from 10% to 65%. Vegetation is made up of mixed conifer plantations, oak, dogwood, hazelnut, and woody shrubs. The District is requesting cost per acre and cost per sub-unit bids within the identified project area as well as cost per hour for loading and hauling timber. Project activities are covered under either an NOE (Notice of Exemption) or CAL Fire Exemption. The scope of work defines the requirements for the contractor to provide forestry or hazard fuels personnel to masticate, cut, pile, and pile cover vegetation within the project area. Bids are required for the entire work described herein. All work must be completed by December 2026.
