The scope includes investigation and implementation of measures to isolate individual laboratory spaces, including enclosure of suspended ceiling voids, and installation of fast-acting, bubble-tight exhaust valves for all fume hoods. Mechanical work includes integration of air handling units, exhaust fans, chillers, cooling towers, and related systems; installation of new sensors for differential pressure, airflow, temperature, and fan motor amperage; and reconfiguration of supply air ductwork and VAV systems to support rapid and effective pressurization control. Electrical and communications work includes providing power and network connectivity for the new BMS, evaluating and upgrading electrical panels as required, potential replacement or integration of variable frequency drives, and implementation of cybersecurity measures. The BMS will also interface with fire alarm and agent alarm monitoring systems. Initial work includes upgrading security features in a separate building to allow temporary relocation of chemical agents, enabling unencumbered access to Building 4156 for construction activities. All work will be performed in a secure, guarded area and completed within the anticipated performance period, excluding Fridays and federal holidays.
