Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in New Britain, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a road / highway.
The scope of work generally consists of Complete Street Improvements on Myrtle Street between Armistice Street and Washington Street. The work includes installation of new granite curbing, brick paver sidewalk banding, new concrete sidewalks and pedestrian ramps to meet current ADA standards, new concrete driveway aprons, replacement of existing catch basin tops and installation of new catch basins, milling and paving, installation of new signage and pavement markings, installation of new street trees, replacement of the traffic control signal at the Myrtle Street and Curtis Street intersection, and minor traffic signal modifications at the Myrtle Street and Burritt Street intersection. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond or a certified check in the amount of TEN percent (10%) of the total bid amount, payable to the City of New Britain. For contracts containing any federal money, use 5%. The awarded bidder must submit an executed Performance Bond and Labor & Material Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract amount at the time of signing the contract. Attention is called to the prevailing wage requirements, and minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Bid Documents must be paid. An affidavit of non-collusion must be completed and returned with the bid. The contractor must comply with the Copeland Anti-Kickback Act and certain Connecticut General Statutes regarding Affirmative Action. State law requires a minimum of twenty-five (25%) percent of the state-funded portion of the contract be awarded to subcontractors holding current certification from the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS) under specific statutes, with a portion of that work awarded to DAS-certified Minority, Women and/or Disabled owned businesses. The contractor must demonstrate a good faith effort to meet these set-aside goals. For municipal public works contracts and quasi-public agency projects, the contractor must file a written or electronic non-discrimination certification with the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. Minority/Women's Business Enterprises are encouraged to apply. This contract is subject to state set-aside and contract compliance requirements. Question Deadline 05/22/2026 All disputes arising under this contract or its interpretation, whether involving law or fact or both, or extra work, and all claims for alleged breach of contract shall within ten (10) days of commencement of the dispute be presented by the Contractor to the Owner for decision. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
