The Town of Hinesburg, Vermont invites proposals from qualified and experienced contractors to complete targeted structural repairs to Bridge #9 located on Hollow Road in Hinesburg, Vermont. This is a contractor-led design and construction services project which aims to address structural deficiencies, enhance safety, and extend the lifespan of the bridge for 20-30 years. Contact the engineer for the complete RFP. A site visit is to be scheduled with the project engineer. The anticipated scope of work includes, but is not limited to: o Complete an approved engineering design for the proposed repairs; o Obtain all required State permits. The Town shall be responsible for the cost of all required permits and shall assist in the review and signature of all permit applications as necessary; o Replace the existing bridge rails with a crash tested system; o Replace the existing bridge deck with a new reinforced concrete bridge deck; o Replace beam #1 including its bearings and anchor bolts. The replacement beam and associated parts shall be coated per the structural engineers recommendation; o Repair the section loss and holes in beams 2-5. The goal is to restore the "as-built" capacity of the bridge; o Clean the existing beams of loose rust and debris and coat them with grease (or other as recommended by the Structural Engineer) appropriate for this application; o Replace the existing wingwalls above the bridge seat; o Repair the existing wingwalls and substructure below the bridge seat; o Removal and disposal of demolished and deteriorated materials; o Installation of replacement materials meeting the structural engineers specifications; o Temporary work required to access and support the structure during repairs; o Regular inspections by the design engineer during construction to ensure that the construction is done in accordance with the approved design and permits. The Structural Engineer shall provide the town with a letter at the completion of construction certifying the repairs were done in conformance with the approved design and permits; o Attendance at monthly progress meetings to be hosted by the Town during design and permitting phase. Progress meetings will be held electronically; o Attendance at weekly on-site construction meetings during construction; o Coordination and cooperation with the Town regarding all aspects of the project; o Restore all areas that may be disturbed or damaged during construction to the satisfaction of the Town. This includes but is not limited to asphalt that may be damaged adjacent to the bridge. o Walkthrough and final inspection with the Town's representative(s) prior to final payment.
