The project proposes safety and operational improvements at the intersection of E 120th Avenue and Salem Street, a high-traffic location adjacent to middle and high schools and surrounding residential neighborhoods. Improvements include installation of a new traffic signal with an all-pedestrian phase, construction of a raised intersection to calm traffic, enhanced signage and striping, high-visibility crosswalks, and new street lighting. The project is funded in part through a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant awarded by the Colorado Department of Transportation and is intended to reduce vehicle-pedestrian conflicts, address documented crash patterns, and improve multimodal safety along the 120th Avenue corridor.
