Construction work consists of replacing Electrical Substations 1 and 2 at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Medical Center to increase electrical capacity and support current and future facility projects. The existing substations, approximately 29 years old, will be removed and replaced with new 480/277V substations, each containing a 1500 kVA transformer. A temporary 480/277V substation with a 1500 kVA transformer will be installed to maintain continuous electrical service to the medical center during demolition and construction activities, and upon completion of the project, this temporary substation will remain installed as a spare. All work will be carefully phased to minimize service outages and ensure uninterrupted operation of the medical center. The project shall provide complete, functional, and energy-efficient systems in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs requirements, applicable industry standards, and all Federal, State, and Local codes and regulations. All construction shall be performed in strict accordance with the issued drawings and specifications, and the project must be completed within 365 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
