Sealed proposals are invited for the AIDB Blind Library HVAC Renovation project. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind in an amount not less than five percent of the amount of the bid, and not more than $10,000, must accompany each proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and proof of insurance as specified in the bid documents are required at contract signing. Drawings and specifications can be reviewed at the engineer's office. Bid documents may be obtained with a $50.00 refundable deposit per set for bona fide bidders, upon return in good condition within ten days of the bid date; additional sets are refundable less costs. Bid bonds must come from a bonding company licensed in Alabama. Bids must be submitted on forms provided by the Engineer. Bidders exceeding the monetary threshold set by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under Alabama law, with the license number displayed on the sealed bid envelope. The Owner may reject any or all proposals and waive technical errors. Bidders are invited to attend a pre-bid conference at the project site. The company employee attending the conference should be qualified and experienced in this type of construction. Nonresident bidders must include with their bid a written legal opinion regarding contract preferences granted by their home state.
