The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting all aerial and underground utilities during construction. No excavation shall be permitted until underground utilities have been located to the satisfaction of all parties. Project construction work items, water line and storm sewer installation, shall require the Contractor to locate, expose and protect in place existing utilities during waterline and storm sewer installation. If a need for utility work by either the Contractor or a Utility Company arises, the following shall apply The Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating the adjustment of utilities on this project. The Contractor shall keep each utility company advised of any work being performed in the vicinity of their facilities so that each utility company can coordinate any needed locates, adjustments or inspections. The Contractor shall provide the appropriate utility company ample notice, but not less than two (2) working days, prior to commencing activities in the vicinity of their facilities. If needed, or as directed by the Project Engineer, the Contractor shall provide traffic control for utility work to be coordinated with the project's construction, in accordance with an approved Method of Handling Traffic (MHT). Any additional work performed by the Contractor on behalf of the impacted utility company shall not be paid for by the State, but shall be paid by the utility company requiring the work, unless otherwise provided herein, or agreed to in writing by the Project Engineer. Work to be performed generally includes: Installation of approximately 4,930 LF of water main, tie-ins to existing water mains, extensions of existing mains, installation of water services to the new main, concrete pavement patching, HMA patching, and temporary water services. The successful BIDDER will be required to furnish Payment and Performance Bonds and comply with the insurance provision as specified by the Contract Documents. A 5% Bid Bond will be required.
