Renovation of a detention facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget, on behalf of the Michigan Department of Corrections, requests professional services for a Phase 100 Study to determine the best course of action to enhance all existing Housing Unit shower areas in 15 buildings at the facility. The study will evaluate all shower infrastructure, including electrical (power and lighting), HVAC (air flow/ventilation requirements), plumbing, and architectural (wall, ceiling, and floor material and finishes). The architectural component will include recommendations on whether to replace or encapsulate existing ceramic tile and grout walls, recommend new ceiling materials, and suggest appropriate floor finishes. Proposed finishes should inhibit moisture buildup, be easy to clean, be durable, and floors should be non-slip. A probable cost estimate for the recommended or anticipated work is required. Existing HVAC reports, CAD files, and photographs will be provided to the selected consultant. Proposal responses must be uploaded to SIGMA VSS, with a total cost for all phases entered as the bid amount. Firms are encouraged to submit combined technical and cost proposals as one attachment (maximum 25MB). Do not submit proposals to the Project Director. Follow instructions for SIGMA VSS submission and contact the SIGMA Help Desk or designated contract specialists if submission issues occur.
