Renovation of a museum in Garden, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.
FILE NO.: 751/14043.RAA This request is for Phase 100 Study, Phase 300 Design services, and Phase 400 Preliminary Design. Budget estimates for Phase 500, 600, and 700 services are to be provided. The Professional Services Consultant (PSC) is to conduct a Historic Building Condition Assessment and Needs Assessment of the furnace stacks only. The PSC will analyze and design the necessary infrastructure improvements to support continued building use, complying with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Rehabilitation. The PSC is to evaluate the structural integrity of the stone chimneys, develop repairs for a structurally sound building, and ensure any proposed alterations conform to the Michigan Rehabilitation Code for Existing Buildings. The PSC must assemble a team with experience in stone and masonry repair and restoration of structures similar to the Furnace Stacks, including a Certified Historic Architect and/or Engineer. Coordination will only be with the MDNR Historic Architect for this project. Proposal requirements include: a complete technical and cost proposal addressing all required Professional Architectural and Engineering Services, a design schedule for Phases 100, 300, and 400, estimated timelines for Phases 500, 600, and 700, details of all labor and reimbursable expenses for each phase, and clear documentation of meetings and field work coordination. Field services to be listed as reimbursable expenses may include topographic surveys, soil borings, and mortar/brick/stone sampling if deemed necessary. The PSC should review attached existing as-built and reference documents, as well as the previously developed masonry mix designs, and suggest any recommended changes. Field work must be coordinated to minimize disruption to the functioning Park. All proposal responses must be uploaded to SIGMA VSS as a combined technical and cost proposal in one attachment, not exceeding 25mb. Attachments should not be emailed to the Project Director. Proposals must comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations as administered by applicable authorities.
