Site work and renovation of a water / sewer project in Honaker, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The project is generally described as renovations to the wastewater treatment plant at the Appalachian Detention Center. Substantial Completion: 365 consecutive calendar days from the date specified in NTP; Final Completion within 30 consecutive calendar days after the date of Substantial Completion as determined by the A/E. Bidders must use the "Prebid Question Form" provided in the bid documents. Bidders must so act to assure that questions reach the A/E at least six (6) days prior to the time set for the receipt of bids to allow a sufficient time for an addendum to reach all bidders before the submission of their bids. The Project consists of the following: 1. Demolish the existing laboratory building after the new laboratory/office building is ready for occupancy. Cap and abandon existing utilities that serve the existing laboratory and demolish the foundation. 2. Construct a new laboratory/office buidling, grading/site site work, yard piping and utilities to serve the new laboratory/office building, and a new paved parking area. 3. The refurbishing of the existing oxidation ditch including the replacement of existing disc assemblies and direct drive assembly, including new 54-inch disc assemblies, 6-inch shaft, bearings, 7.5 horsepower (HP) direct drive assembly and 1.5 HP sludge pump and enclosure. 4. Relocate existing storage building. 5. Disinfection will be provided by a new ultraviolet (UV) type system that is redundant (in series). UV disinfection will be provided by an open channel type with UV modules/lamps within the open channel. The UV system will be enclosed in a fiberglass weatherproof enclosure and new yard piping will be required for the new UV disinfection system. 6. The existing blowers and building enclosure for the blowers will be removed and replaced with new blowers and shed. 7. A new digester will be provided to supplement the existing digester capacity and treatment. The new digester will be used as a first stage digester treatment and the existing digester as a second stage treatment. The existing sludge waste line from the oxidation ditch sludge waste pump would be routed to the new digester with a transfer pump from the new digester to the existing digester. The existing decanter and sludge drain pipes will remain and be re-used. The existing plug valves on the existing digester will be replaced with a new telescopic type decant valve provided in the existing second stage digester. The sludge waste from the oxidation ditch will be normally received in the first stage digester and transferred to the second stage digester after a two-to-four-week treatment period. 8. The existing sludge drying beds will be rehabilitated and a new shelter roof will be added to process waste sludge from the digester. 7.
