Site work for a water / sewer project in Melbourne, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
A. CONTRACTOR shall use caution to avoid damage to the service line and disturbance that could temporarily mobilize lead if present in the service line. B. CONTRACTOR shall hand-dig in grassy areas to uncover service lines and capture their attributes. C. CONTRACTOR shall cut and remove sod in a manner that allows re-installment of the same patch of sod after the inspection of work is completed. D. CONTRACTOR can adjust the location for digging or excavating to meet this criterion, but they shall make the materials determination on service piping that is a minimum of 12 inches from the meter box on the upstream side (CITY-owned segment) and a minimum of 12 inches from the meter box on the downstream side (customer-owned segment) of the service line. E. In the event that hand digging is not applicable, CONTRACTOR shall use hydro excavation and/or uncover the service lines to capture their attributes. F. Re-installing the pre-existing sod patch is considered part of the work and no additional payment for restoration shall be made in these instances. G. Types of data to be collected during the investigations include, but are not limited to the following: Confirmation of Property Address Date of Field Verification Service Line Material Classification-City-owned segment (copper, galvanized, lead, brass, HDPE, PVC) Service Line Material Classification-Customer-owned segment (copper, galvanized, lead, brass, HDPE, PVC) Service Line Size Scratch Test Results Magnet Test Results Sealed bids are invited for Lead Service Line Inventory Field Investigations. Instructions, specifications, and forms for submitting bids are available through Demandstars bid distribution system or by contacting the City of Melbourne Procurement Division. Bids must comply with the City Charter and Code of Ordinances. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and informalities. The deadline for questions remains July 7, 2026 by 2:00 p.m. ET
