Prequalification proposals will be received for the Main Building Renovation at Bevill State Community College, Hamilton, Alabama. Only previously pre-qualified General Contractors may submit sealed proposals. Bid documents will be distributed electronically to prequalified General Contractors. Subcontractors should contact a General Contractor or plan room for documents. A cashier's check or bid bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid (not to exceed $10,000) must accompany the bid. Performance and statutory Labor and Material Payment Bonds, as well as insurance, will be required at contract signing. The project is to be bid excluding taxes, and the contractor must complete DCM Form C-3A Accounting of Sales Tax, submitted with the proposal. If awarded, both the tax-exempt entity and the contractor must apply for certificates of exemption, which will only be issued to contractors licensed by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors or any subcontractor working under the same contract. Items eligible for exemption include materials and supplies that become part of the structure. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive technical errors, and/or to abandon the process if it is in their best interest. Pre-qualification requirements for the project: Only General Contractors who have completed the prequalification process within the stated time limits and are properly licensed according to the State Licensing Board for General Contractors under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, will be considered for prequalification for this project. Attendance at the mandatory pre-bid conference is required for all General Contractor bidders intending to submit a proposal.
