Project consists of the demolition of and replacement of selected areas of existing roofing and parapet coping and HVAC improvements in the Mechanical Penthouse at Karen Acres Elementary School building. The work includes all General, Mechanical, and Electrical Work. Work on the Project shall commence as soon as possible after notice of the Contract and is currently scheduled for a substantial completion date on or before September 25, 2026. Bids must be a lump sum basis for a single Combined Construction Contract as described in the specifications. Bids must be submitted on the approved bid form available in the Bidding Documents. No oral, facsimile, electronic or telephonic bids or modifications will be considered. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security in a separate, sealed envelope as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish within ten (10) days after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the Board of Directors of the Urbandale Community School District, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder’s security shall be in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid and shall be in the form of a cashier’s check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the Board of Directors of Urbandale Community School District. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Bid security shall be made payable to Urbandale Community School District. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish within ten (10) days of the award proof of insurance as required by the Bid Documents and a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond both in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract Price and in accordance with other requirements outlined in the Bid Documents. Should the successful bidder fail or neglect to furnish satisfactory performance/payment bonds, refuse to enter into a Contract on the basis of the bid, or fail to meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award, the bidder’s security may be retained as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after the date and hour set for opening of bids. The Board of Directors may make the contract award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities as allowed by law, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of Urbandale Community School District.
